Service Address UK

This is a significant feature of the Act designed to protect your personal privacy from fraudsters and activists. A large number of Directors will opt to have a service address separate from their residential address to take advantage of this important addition into the Companies Act 2006. What are the benefits to you as a Director?

You can record a service address separate from
your usual residential address.
It is only this service address that is available for
public inspection.
Your usual residential address will not be available
for public inspection if it is different to your service
address.
We are able to offer our address as a service
address to you as a Director for a fixed inclusive
fee of £75 per annum.

In order to put in place a service address different from your residential address and therefore protect your personal privacy you need to take action and provide the relevant details to Companies House in the appropriate format.

On 1st October 2009 your current residential address will automatically become your service address. If you do not want to have your home address disclosed on the public record, you can change to a service address from 1st October 2009. The above measures are not retrospective as existing filed documents before 30 September 2009 cannot be amended. However, the new rules are designed to restrict fraudsters and activists from abusing Directors’ home addresses.

We will only use your residential address:-

To communicate directly with you as a Director.
In order to file and send information to Companies House on your behalf.
To comply with a Court Order.
With your permission as a Director.

Companies House will only use the residential address:-

To communicate themselves with you as a Director.
For supplying to a public authority specified by regulations made by the Secretary of State such as the Police or HMRC.
For allowing credit reference agencies to vet applications for credit and to meet the obligations of the Money Laundering Regulations.

Remember ONLY the service address is on the public record and available to the public at Companies House.


	From 1st October 2009 protect your personal privacy with a service address. The final stage of the implementation of the Companies Act 2006 came into effect on the 1st October 2009. As part of this implementation the registration of a Service Address by any Director is now allowable under Sections 240 to 246 of the Companies Act 2006.
